Protect Your Investment with
Vigortone Vigorsile Silage Inoculants

Your silage is an investment in your feeding program. Its value may range between $25 and $60 per ton. High quality silage can be the basis for high performance and production. Vigortone silage inoculants allow you to protect your investment and its value to your farm by controlling heat and damaged protein, decreasing seepage and dry matter loss, increasing bunk life, and therefore improve animal production.

Silage fermentation is a process whereby bacteria convert water-soluble carbohydrates to organic acids. The most desirable acid is lactic acid. Good fermentation is desirable for proper storage and feeding.

Factors necessary for good fermentation:

  • aneaerobic conditions (no air)
  • proper moisture
  • sufficient plant water-soluble carbohydrates or sugars
  • proper bacteria

The purpose of silage inoculant is to ensure adequate quantities of lactic acid-producing bacteria. This aids in more efficient production of lactic acid which helps to lower the pH level quickly.
